Upton Conservative Councillors have been talking with the local Police Inspector about the clarity of crime figures for the Upton area. Crime figures are compiled to a Home Office formula and this means that criminal incidents that occur at the Countess of Chester hospital and also at the petrol station at the local supermarket, are included in the reports for Upton Grange ward.
Hilarie stated ‘Worryingly this method of reporting inflates the figures for Upton Grange ward and gives an inaccurate inpression of crime and anti social behaviour in the area.’
‘We are so pleased that the Police officers have taken our concerns so seriously’ commented Jill, she added ‘Residents looking for information about Upton should use the Cheshire Police website where it is made clear how the figures are compiled. This gives an more realistic view of the level of crime in the Upton ward,’ she added.
