Chester West and Chester Councillors have announced a project for Members to regularly visit care homes in the Borough, providing more direct access to Councillors for residents and their families.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Councillor Tom Parry, chairman of the Cheshire
West and Chester Safeguarding Scrutiny Task Group that developed the project said: “Recent events in the care industry nationally have once again shown how important it is for us to provide as many opportunities as possible for residents and their families to give us feedback on the quality of their care.”
“We are very fortunate to have such a good range of quality care homes in our Borough, but we’re not complacent. We must continue to work with those homes to further raise standards.”
Councillor Lynda Jones, Executive Member for Commissioning, a member of the Task Group and a Winsford Councillor, has visited the local care homes. She said: “I am proud to say that I suggested to Scrutiny that members should visit homes as part of their role in the local community.
“This is a key role and we will ensure it is extended into other areas such as learning disability for adults.”
