Community Grants

Each Cheshire West and Chester Borough Councillor has an annual budget of £10,000 they can put towards community projects which benefit the ward.  This allows Councillors to make decisions and priorities on projects in their ward and for their communities.

Details of the scheme and what has been spent can be found at Cheshire West & Council: http://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/your%20council/councillors%20and%20committees/councillors%20allowances/member%20budgets.aspx

When in opposition the Labour Group on CWC tried to cut the member budget scheme in half, at 2 separate occasions but in their 2015 manifesto they promised to “keep member budgets” however for the 2016 budget they again proposing to cut member budgets in half.

Labour run CWC is also proposing to remove the 20% New Homes Bonus which goes to Town and Parish Councils to benefit local communities who have new homes built in their area.
