The Latest from Great Boughton.
The former Saighton Army Camp was been bought by Developer CEG who want to develop the land for housing. Pamela, Keith and their Huntington Cllr Colleague Mark Williams have opposed all development on this land over the past 5 years, and the latest application for 375 houses which the Council refused was overturned by the Government planning inspector. Bovis now own the land and are working on designs for the area. CEG still own enough land for over 400 houses and the Councillors and local residents will object to this.
Keith and Pamela are working with Huntington and Great Boughton Parish Councils on developing a Neighbourhood Plan. The next steps are for the two Parish Councils to meet and we will update you with further information when available.
The recent Boundary Commission report on Constituency Boundaries proposes that Great Boughton ward is moved into the new Winsford Constituency.
Pamela and Keith completely agree with local residents that it is wrong for the Great Boughton ward to not be part of the Chester Constituency and made representations to the Boundary Commission to object to the proposals to move the ward out of Chester when the public hearings were held in early October. Pamela made suggestions of how they could move the boundaries to bring the ward back into the Chester constituency and that Chester should not have more than one MP.
Pamela says “Great Boughton is an integral part of our City and should not be part of the new Winsford constituency. Hopefully the Boundary Commission will agree with us and make changes to their proposals”.
Keith has represented Great Boughton since 2008, during which time he has gained a reputation as a ‘doer’ and a great champion for residents. He has worked to protect local bus routes and for more money to be invested in local roads.
Keith is Chairman of the Council’s Sustainability Commission and is a member of the Corporate Scrutiny Committee.
Pamela is the Chairman of the Locality Scrutiny which serves to review how the Council works with communities to agree the services they need and so how they will be provided in the future. They are also there to ensure the Council and our partners develop the most effective, efficient and responsible links with each other and the communities we all serve.
Pamela is also the Chairman of Great Boughton Parish Council.
